February 2009

Hard to believe that its almost March already. Even though this has been the LONGEST and COLDEST winter we have had in a few years, it's flying by. Or perhaps thats just because time flies by the older you get...and I am getting OLD. Keegan informed me not to long ago that 40 is SUPER old...why thank you, Keegs...I wasnt aware of that. And I am 39 thank you very much. Shortly following was the statement to a friend of mine, 'My Mom is chubby.' Why thank you again, sweet boy--he sure has a way with words that will melt your heart...or more like a punch in the face!
January and February...let's see....what did we do? Oh yeah....hockey, a little snowboarding, more hockey, garage hockey, hockey, floor hockey, hockey, knee hockey, hockey, driveway hockey, a little snowboarding, dryland hockey...are you sensing where we spend 95% of our time? I have officially become my Mother, spending weekends at the rink and organizing jamborees and concession stands. I remember the days of my parents spending every waking moment at the rink with my brother, Seth. I thought they were crazy. Apparently, I inherited the crazy gene from them. (as if that was in question, regardless of the 'crazy' due to hockey)
However, I am quickly realizing that what I used to think of as crazy is in reality a ton of fun. However, you will not see me sporting a HOCKEY MOM window cling in the rear window of my Tahoe--I have to draw the line somewhere. We enjoy weekends at the rink watching countless hours of hockey games...we're from the Iron Range--we love hockey! Even though Gregg grew up in Winona, I do believe he has a stronger Iron Range accent than I do these days. Speaking of Iron Range, Keegan made the most hilarious comment last week. I treated the boys to dinner at Rainforest Cafe and Griffin was...well, just being, Griffin. I asked Griffin, 'why are you eating like such a hill billy?' and Keegan replies, 'because he is being raised by a mother from the Iron Range.' I just about choked I was laughing so hard...the kid has quick wit--insightful quick wit.
We are hoping to head to Giants Ridge with Grandpa Joe, Uncle Sethie, Auntie Jenni and Austin before the snow melts. With our city hockey season coming to a close in a few weeks, we will have more time to ride. That also means we will have more time to ride with Uncle Paul, Auntie Jojo, Josh and Ally at Welch Village. So glad our kids enjoy winter sports...living in MN, we really dont have a choice do we? Although, before you know it Spring and Summer will be here....you know, like in July.
That's it for now. Check in again next month for the latest hill billy updates. Dont forget to read older posts if you are visiting for the first time.
