Happy Birthday Keegan!

October 7th and The Keegameister turned 8! Hard to believe. We celebrated by having Mom attend his school field trip to The Minneapolis Children's Theatre during the day and having a few friends over for pizza and cake in the evening. He was pretty pumped to get goalie pads and a new pellet gun for his birthday! He is bound and determined to 'bag' one of the wild turkeys on our lot with Game Warden Griffin reminding him that "it's not Wild Turkey season and you do not have a permit, Keegan". Since when does Griffin abide by the rules?!
Keegan has decided to have a skating party at the Civic Arena the day after Halloween to celebrate his birthday will all of his buddies. Why wait so long to have his birthday party? Well what 8th birthday would be complete without a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy the very next morning?! Yep, poor buddy had to have surgery on the 9th to remove his tonsils and adenoids, which were the size of Texas and full of goo. After 5 days he is back to his normal self and seems to be on the mend. He told me last night, 'if I would have known it would be this painful, I would have never let you 'sign me up' for this.' Yep, thats right, Bubba, I thought it would be fun to sign you up for the birthday surgery celebration. Its nice to see him feeling good and out of his codeine-induced stupor. Wowza.
During all of this, Griffin took very good care of Keegan. With Keegan not wanting to talk due to pain and Griffin trying to be quiet so Keegan could rest, it was the quietest this house has been in 8 years--the first day or two was wonderful and after that it was just plain weird. So I welcome the fact that as I am typing, Griffin is playing the piano and singing a made up song at a deafening decibel level and Keegan is continually asking him to stop so he can hear ESPN Sport Zone. Noise is good.
